Natural Wood Care Instructions:
- We apply a
natural mineral oil finish. This allows the wood to breathe,
which is the key to durability. It is especially important to
continue this process during the first year.
- A light application of mineral oil with a paper towel once a month for the
first year and quarterly thereafter will insure longevity and
stability. You need only a few drops of oil on the surface and blend
in well with a paper towel.
- Your top is designed to be used as a working surface. Clean with a
mild solution of warm water and liquid dishwashing soap. Rinse with
clear water and wipe dry with a paper or cotton towel. After heavy
use, we suggest cleaning with a solution of one part chlorine bleach mixed
with ten parts water. Rinse with clear water and dry with paper or
cotton towel. Once the surface is dry, apply a light coat of mineral
oil on the surface. You need only a few drops of oil on the surface
and blend in well with a paper towel.
- Recent studies show that unhealthy bacteria survive on plastic cutting
boards but die quickly on wooden ones.
- We recommend an occasional
application of fresh lemon juice to deodorize the work surface.
- Scratches, burns from hot pots, stains, etc. can be removed by sanding
with a medium grit sandpaper, or try scraping with a paint scraper.
After removing, follow up with a few drops of mineral oil to the area
blended in with a paper towel.
